Prize StampedeThe entire Board of Directors, some of the band members, the mascot and even a camera man from News Channel 11, loaded onto a school bus to reward teachers for all their efforts for innovative teaching. The band alerted each campus as we arrived that something very special was about to happen. With dozens of balloons, giant checks and plenty of cheering, the foundation, with the help of the entire community, was able to make our school district just a little better.

Grants Awarded
We were able to award 29 teacher grants for a total of $26,323. The total amount requested by teachers who submitted grants totaled $31,680. According to Foundation Innovation, the group that assisted the board in forming the foundation, Shallowater Education Foundation is well ahead of other education foundations in their first year of service and activity. Board members attribute that to our strong community and a leadership that is willing to do the extra work to make extraordinary things happen for our children. |
Partners
Of the grants funded, 10 had identified funding partners listed on the application. Meaning that those grant writers had secured outside funding to meet part of the amount needed. Partners are vital to the success of the foundation. They make the gifts go further and let the community and the teachers know what an impact they have on the community at large. They truly make all the difference. |
